John Winsch Postcard (1913) with Halloween Verse
Printed in Germany.
The devils are in the details.
So enlarge the detail photos to see the funny individuality of these little creeps.
The Halloween verse reads:
"If Hallowe'en's a starry night,
You'll see the Gobelins in Flight.
Perched on their black Bat aeroplanes
They flit about the weather vanes!"
Note the strange spelling of "goblins" as Gobelins--spelled the same way as the Factory (Works) in France. Curious. Can't blame it on Spell-Check stupidity in 1913, now can we?
